Our research aims to further our scientific understanding of soil. Soil provides a habitat for billions of organisms and contributes to global biodiversity. It provides us with ecosystems critical to our life on earth. Soil is a growing medium; it filters water and wastewaters, stores carbon and underpins our agricultural industries, providing us with food and fibre. Our research is particularly interested in greenhouse gas emissions and soil carbon; land rehabilitation, waste reuse and soil contamination; plant nutrition, soil nutrient cycling and the rhizosphere; soil water dynamics and critical zone science and soil genesis.
